Overview
The MC 96 Electric Drive is an electrically powered variant of BAUER's MC 96 duty-cycle crane — one of the manufacturer's largest and most powerful base carriers for special foundation engineering. According to BAUER, the first electrically driven MC 96 equipped with a trench cutter was presented at Bauma 2019, developed for job sites where diesel exhaust or noise limits rule out the standard machine (dense urban centres, tunnels, indoor sites, environmentally sensitive areas). The electric variant reuses the MC 96 platform — the same 130-t max lifting capacity, the same 45.4 m boom class, the same 2 × 350 kN main winches, and compatibility with BAUER Smart Grab Control, cutter drums, oscillators, deep vibrators and other MC-series attachments — but replaces the on-board Cat C18 diesel with an electric power supply. Because the current diesel engine, AdBlue-free Tier 4 Final / Stage V compliance and 1 250-litre fuel tank belong to the standard diesel configuration, they are not applicable to the electric drive; the electrification package is configuration- and project-specific.
